Background

Chase came to us from a breeding background, but is surprisingly confident for an ex-stud dog.

Character

Chase’s foster mum describes him as an affectionate, happy friendly goofball! He would have been fairly isolated as a breeding stud dog, so it has been so rewarding to watch his cheeky personality start to show and watch him learn how to play! He has a wonderful temperament and loves everyone, including other dogs and children! Check out the video below to watch him meeting some flirty schnauzer girls in our secure field.
He is still a little nervous of unfamiliar environments and high-energy situations but he really loves an adventure once he has been reassured.

Whilst he is learning how fun the world can be, he has started to express some mischievous puppy behavior by stealing the odd contraband item or exploring items with his teeth. This behavior is easily redirected by giving him enrichment toys and making sure he gets enough stimulation during the day.

Type of home

Chase has a lovely temperament and would fit in in many household set-ups. Being a young spaniel, he is medium energy and would need an active family who can provide quality exercise, stimulation and who can provide him with lots of fun to make up for lost time!

Chase would be best suited to a home with another similar-sized, playful dog. Dogs from a breeding background really thrive with the canine companionship of foster siblings to show them the ropes. Chase enjoys a bit of rough-and-tumble play, so any resident dogs would need to be up for an enthusiastic playmate, but he has been respectful when meeting other dogs in the secure field meet-ups.

This loveable goofball loves children and would love a young family to play fetch with! As mentioned, he can sometimes be nervous and uncertain in new and busy environments, so any resident or visiting children would need to respect this and know when to give him space and when adults need to step in to provide reassurance.

Chase has been fine left at home with a chew toy and another dog for a short time.

He sleeps well through the night, usually in his foster parents’ bed but he is also happy to settle on his bed on the floor or sofa.

Chase is a playful boy and shows a little too much interest in cats, so he would be best suited to a home without any cats to chase.

Chase is clever boy and spaniels are well known for their trainability, so he has very quickly learned how to behave in a family home. In his short time in foster care, he has already learned how to ‘sit’ and ‘paw’ and ‘lie down’. What a clever boy! He has also picked up potty training super quickly with only the odd accident and will progress perfectly with continued reward-based training.

Adopting

Chase is in foster care in South Bristol and successful applicants will need to come and meet him here.
