Background: Dexter was rescued as a young puppy in Kuwait before moving to the UK with his family. Dexter came to Dogs Friends after his owners had a baby and was adopted in Summer 2021, and just recently came back to us due to a domestic change for his guardians. As you can tell, he’s had an unsettled life but recently landed on his paws with some fab foster parents.

Character and general behaviour: It would be easy to assume that due to his breed mix, Dexter could be a little crazy but this isn’t the case at all – he is super chilled out and home and is generally very laid back. When you come into the house he greets you with a sniff and a waggy tail, and likes to have a fuss. Equally he can be independent and is happy to snooze alone on the sofa. He’s no trouble at all and everyone compliments his manners! Dexter likes his walks and is even a good boy in the pub! Dexter is very receptive to training and commands and is happy to show off his perfect ‘sit, down, up, wait and speak’!

With other dogs and animals: We’ve recently put some time into properly dog testing Dexter and he was absolutely fabulous with the other dogs – racing around the field with one of the Lurcher boys, and was even great with one of the tiny 4kg Schnauzers. Dexter does have high prey drive towards small animals and livestock, and so must stay on the lead on walks.

Adopting: Dexter is in foster care in Clifton and applicants must come and meet him here.
