Background
Dexter was a resident with us 4 years ago but is now looking for his forever home once again. We didn’t know much about his history when he first joined us but he has been living in a home environment for the last 4 years. Dexter originally came from overseas so his struggle to adapt to normal home living is understandable.
Character
Dexter is a very friendly, happy collie-type boy who loves the outdoors. He loves being out in an enclosed garden but also happy curled up in a basket, crate or a cuddle on the sofa. He enjoys a good run around the secure field and is comfortable being left alone. Dexter can be unsure of people if approached quickly and doesn’t like people coming into the house so introductions to new people should be carefully handled and frequent visitors avoided. Dexter does not like to meet other dogs when out on his walks and can lunge and bark when he sees them, but he is ok with dogs that he knows.
Type of home
Dexter would like a home that can commit time and patience to him – he needs a lot of support. Dexter has previously lived with cats and dogs, he could live with them with very careful introductions. He will need someone who can manage his reactions to visitors and dogs outside of the home.
Adopting
Dexter is currently residing at our kennels near Wells, Somerset and his potential new family will need to visit him here.
