Background: Dora was adopted from us around six months ago and went to a lovely home, but sadly her passion for chasing deer combined with the location of her adopted home meant she needed to return to us. Dora went into a home with a brand new foster carer, where she has happily joined multiple dogs and children (both of which she loves).

Character: Dora is goofy, loving and playful – just a really wonderful dog with a fun temperament. Dora really likes a cuddle and is very affectionate and so would like a home with people who can share this with her. Dora is also relaxed in the home and happy to snooze on the sofa, so whilst she is an active dog, she is not manic all the time. When Dora does want to play she can be very boisterous which could worry a handler that isn’t confident with large dogs.

Animals and children: Dora loves everyone including other dogs and children – she is just happy to be part of the family. We think she would be happiest living with older, sensible children although she would be okay with visiting younger children if they were confident around dogs.

Ideal home: Dora would be best suited to an active, outdoorsy home with people who might enjoy doing some sort of games based training with her, she is great in the car too so is easy to take out on adventures or trips. Dora’s new home will need to be with people who are physically able and who are happy to continue her training, and to manage her deer chasing risk sensibly. Dora has also had some issues with being left alone and manners on the lead (she will pull like a steam train given half the chance) and so again, will need training with this.

Update – Dora did go to an urban home and did not cope with this despite the very best efforts of her adopters, exhibiting undesirable behaviours that we had not seen before, therefore we are looking for a rural or semi-rural home.

Adopting: Dora is based at our kennels near Wells and applicants will need to come and meet her here.
