Background

Doris and Missy have come from a breeding environment unusually, they bond extremely quickly and are very human focused, they like to be with their human all the time, especially Missy.

Character

Both girls love company & fuss, they play little games of bitey face with each other rolling around on the sofa.

They are good with other dogs, they have lived with large and small dogs in foster. Missy doesn’t like boisterous dogs in her personal space and will give them a grumble if they don’t leave her be, but both are happy milling around within a group of dogs.

They’ve been happy having harnesses on and walk pretty well on a lead, though they like to walk behind your feet. They barely leave their human and even off lead (in a secure field) have stuck close by or come back when called if they’ve gone for a sniff.

Missy can be a little nervous with going out the front door but is happy to be picked up and carried over the threshold.

They’re friendly to strangers and will go to them for fuss.

They both love their food and get excited for meal times and treats, owners will need to keep an eye on their weight to make sure they don’t get overweight.

Both girls can be a little handshy or jumpy at noises or quick movements and cower so a calm and gentle approach is needed. They’ve been bathed and had some matted fur clippered off without being overly scared. They’re happy to be touched everywhere and picked up for a cuddle and they give lots of kisses!

Type of home

They would like plenty of company with very gradual introductions to being left for short periods, as they will get stressed, bark/aroo when left. They can live with other calm and friendly dogs (who would tolerate their clinginess and need for human attention) but would be happy with just each other and their humans too.

Adopting

Missy and Doris are in foster care in Axbridge and applicants would need to come and meet them here. They will be ready to go to their new home in early June but applicants should be ready to start the process (home checks, meet etc) immediately. Applicants must be within our catchment area.
