Ember

About This Project

Ember

Breed: Miniature Schnauzer

Age: 5 years old

Ember arrived at the start of lockdown in March 2020 aged around 18 months. She was an ex-breeding Miniature Schnauzer who was petrified of everything, clearly mistreated and neglected, with bilateral cataracts limiting her vision. Ember was due to have surgery but this was postponed due to Covid-19 and sadly her retina detached in one eye during that time, leaving her partially sighted. Although her retina detached, she was able to have her cataract successfully removed in the other so thankfully has some vision. A while later she developed an abdominal lump, this turned out to be a hernia so she endured more surgery to have this repaired.

Ember has gradually come out of her traumatised shell over the years, she’s been a mother figure to lots of other fosters, especially the scared or young pups. She’s a little quiet wallflower most of the time, a delicate soul but will provide vocal backup to the others if there’s something to bark at! She is the dinner time monitor and lets her family know if they’re nearing feeding time so we don’t forget!
