Background – Esme came to Dogs Friends as she was struggling to cope and finding it very stressful living with a baby in her previous home. She is now being fostered in a calm and quiet environment and doing very well, learning to relax and enjoy life.
Character – Esme is proving to be quite a character. She is intelligent, lively and can be a bit cheeky at times. Esme is in foster with another similar dog and gets on with her well. She loves her walks and loves all the dogs she meets enjoying a game of chase with those who can match her energy. She never seems to tire of it. Her recall is good and she travels well in the car. Esme bonds quickly with her people and loves to be involved in whatever is going on. Due to her unsettled background, she does show some signs separation anxiety. This is already improving and hopefully in time will not present too much of a problem.
With other dogs – Esme loves all dogs large and small. She is very good with her foster companion but is sometimes quite persistent when she wants to play. So, although she would love to live with other dog/dogs they would have to be quite robust and be able to match her energy. Spaniels and Cockapoos are her favourites! Esme shows no aggression but a very timid or elderly dog may find her too much.
Type of home – Esme will need a home where someone is able to be with her for most of the time. A quiet calm environment would suit her best. Her new owners will need to be physically fit and active. At present she is having two good walks a day and loving it. Esme could be an only dog as long as she is given the chance to meet, play and run with other doggy friends on a daily basis. Esme could also live with another friendly playful dog. Esme could live with older sensible children. She will make a great addition to any active and understanding home.
Adoption – Esme is being fostered in Weston-super-Mare and applicants will need to come and meet her here.
