Background

Isaac was picked up as a stray and was very frightened when he was found, but has really flourished in his fantastic, kind foster home.

Character

When Isaac first arrived he was extremely nervous, wouldn’t go near people, slept on the floor and was more comfortable being outside than in. With a little bit of space and love from a distance, Isaac started to let his guard down and trust his foster carers. Now Isaac’s true nature is starting to show and he is a funny, loving and energetic young boy with bags of personality. Isaac truly shines when around other dogs, and is full of joy when running free with his friends. We have been able to test him with other rescue dogs from 3kg up to 30kg and he is keen to be besties with everyone!

His troubled past is still evident through his nervousness and so he needs a family that can raise him with a kind and gentle approach, being mindful of his triggers (for example, he is frightened of being approached from behind). He has gained a lot of confidence in a short space of time which continues to grow the more he is socialised – he has so much potential!

Inside the home –

Isaac is finally learning what it means to be a much loved family member and loves playing, getting chased around the garden or testing the durability of his toys. Isaac likes a fuss on his terms, so he can be super cuddly (especially when sleepy), completely uninterested or sees it as an opening to playfight which he enjoys greatly.

He sleeps through the night downstairs (not crated, he likes to spread out on his bed) however, if he is not properly exercised during the day, may get up to mischief in the night.

Outside the home –

He likes walks but he can be stubborn and likes the opportunity to have a good sniff before moving on – so many new smells! Although he can be nervous of new environments, he really comes to life in the secure field at zooms around with other dogs which he absolutely loves! He’s been to cafes and pubs and generally has no issue, as with most things once he gets used to the environment he settles well. Large crowds are too overwhelming for him so at the moment he prefers quieter walks, but he does happily play around smaller groups of people at his play dates so he has potential to be a social butterfly when his confidence grows!. Isaac is not a fan of going in the car and may get a little travel sick, so will need a little work with this.

Type of home

Isaac is a high-energy dog who will need regular walks and stimulation so he is looking for an active family. He has a high chase drive so would need someone able to control him on the lead – if he see’s a squirrel he cannot resist! Isaac really loves a bit of rough and tumble with other dogs and adores canine companionship, so in an ideal world would go to a home with a similar dog, but this isn’t totally essential if he has regular play dates. Isaac is a bouncy and boisterous boy when he is in play mode so this should be considered if you have children, as it may overwhelm more sensitive little ones. Most of all Isaac would like a family that will be patient with him as he grows in confidence!

Adopting

Isaac is in foster care in Bristol (BS16) so potential adopters will need to meet him here. We feel that Isaac would benefit from a family who could visit him a few times prior to adoption, whilst still working through the process swiftly.
