Background –
Jack came into our care after his loving owner suddenly passed away.
Character –
Jack is an easygoing, charming older gentleman who’s all about belly rubs, ear scratches, and cozy afternoons curled up on the sofa. He was of course a little bewildered and shut-down when he first came into our care, but after settling into his foster home, he’s shown his sweet, laid-back personality. He’s the perfect little shadow, keeping a loving eye on you.
Jack’s favorite spot is either snuggled up on the sofa or perched in your lap. He’s definitely a people dog and loves nothing more than hanging out with his humans.
When it’s time for walks, Jack’s always eager to get out there. Some days he’s happy with a short stroll, and on others, he’ll be trotting at the end of his lead for a mile or more! He’s friendly with almost everyone he meets, and while he gets along with most dogs, he’s not afraid to give a little grumble if he’s not feeling the vibe with a few. Overall, he’s a social butterfly but with the perfect amount of calm.
Type of home –
Jack’s ideal home would be with a moderately active retired person/couple. He’s a clever, fit, healthy boy who still benefits from quality stimultation albeit at a gentle pace.
Jack has been great with all the children he has met whilst in our care, but we think a young family home would be a bit much for him and he would prefer a quiet, adult only home to settle in.
At night, he is happy to sleep in his own bed next to yours, but loves to sneak into bed with you for a good night’s cuddle. He’s a quiet sleeper, going all night without any fuss.
He’s house-trained, though he doesn’t seem to ask to go outside, so his foster carer has been keeping the door open or taking him out regularly, just to be on the safe side.
Jack is cool and calm in the car and always ready for an adventure.
Jack does bark when he is left alone, his new family will need to support him with this moving forward, slowly building up longer stints of alone time.
He has not been tested with cats, but has shown no interest in them when out on walks.
Health –
He’s started medication for a heart murmur, but he’s still spry and happy and this is not affecting his quality of life. Jack is on heart medication so his adopters will need to be willing to continue this.
Jack is mostly deaf, so he doesn’t have much road sense, but he’s perfectly manageable on a lead.
Adopting – Jack is in foster care in Bridgwater, Somerset and successful applicants would need to come and meet him here. As he travels well, his foster carer is willing to meet half way if you applying from further afield.
