Background

Joey arrived with us from the local dog warden as a welfare case, with a newly amputated tail and a very sad face! Fortunately he went straight into a lovely warm foster home with nice humans who have been spoiling him.

Character

Joey is a super affectionate dog who loves nothing better than cuddling on the sofa and having big hugs from all those around him. He loves meeting new people and especially loves it if they also give him treats.

With other dogs –

Joey loves all other dogs and just adores going to the secure field with his pooch pals – he’s even great with the little dogs (although he doesn’t play chase with those ones!).

In the home –

Inside the house Joey is mostly pretty calm although he does wiggle his little amputated tail stump and gets bouncy with happiness when he is greeting his foster parents in the morning and after being left for short periods. Joey settles well at night and loves snuggling on the sofa. He is a very quiet dog and generally likes to snooze most of the day too.

Outside the home

Although he loves lazing around, Joey quickly gets excited when his coat and lead come out. He is very good with other dogs and doesn’t tend to pull on the lead. In cafes and pubs Joey will chill with his bone with no issue at all. He loves people watching. Joey absolutely LOVES the car and will jump in at any opportunity – even into strangers cars at the foster carer meet ups!

Type of home needed –

Ideally Joey would love his new family to be around most of the time – Joey prefers company but will settle down if being left alone for short periods. He will tolerate it even more if he’s given food treats and games to entertain him. He does like longer walks but is more than happy with less walks and more naps. We suspect Joey would love to live with another dog and he also likes children!

Adoption – Joseph is in foster care in BS16 and applicants will need to come and meet him here.
