Background –
Lottie was surrendered to us after clashing with the other dogs and cats in her previous home. She went straight into one of our foster homes, but unfortunately, she was unable to settle in with the other dogs there too and she so is now resident at our kennels.
Character –
Lottie really is a sweet girl who should be in a comfortable home napping on a sofa and giving cuddles. She has had a very unsettled start to life, and really deserves a forever home so that she can settle into being a loved and adored family member. It is evident from her behaviour around people, that she was once a beloved household pet. She is incredibly affectionate, is fully house-trained and sleeps well through the night.
Whist Lottie was in foster care, her foster dad described her as a cuddly girl who was friendly with everyone she met. She is a very people-focused dog and really adores her humans. She is great walking on and off the lead in a secure field, has wonderful recall and was great fun to explore with.
She was also really friendly to other dogs that she met out and about on walks
Lottie was absolutely fine with the other resident dogs in her foster home when she was out and about on walks and adventures, and when travelling in the car.
Unfortunately, she does not like to share her creature comforts with other dogs when at home and does find herself getting into scraps if a canine pal approaches her on her precious sofa or when she had claimed the lap of her humans!
Type of home –
Lottie really is a well-rounded, fantastic little dog and would settle into many types of home set-ups. She is medium energy and would suit a moderately active family, but because she is happy as long as she is with her humans, endless cuddles on the sofa and a couple of walks a day would suit her just fine too!
For the reasons outlined in her character profile, it would be best that Lottie is the only dog in her forever home, and that she doesn’t get regular doggy visitors to her household.
Because Lottie is friendly with everyone she meets, we think she would be ok to live with older children who are savvy and understand how to respect her space. We think a home with young resident or visiting children would be too much for her and she may feel inclined to recourse guard as she does towards other dogs.
Lottie is not very friendly to cats or small furries and would not be suited to sharing a home with them.
Lottie bonds very quickly with her humans, and has obviously had to say goodbye to her loved ones too many times in her short life, so we are unsure if she would settle when left alone. She is a happy and confident dog, so it is possible that she would be absolutely fine left alone for short periods.
It would be ideal if Lottie’s new family could be with her most of the time and be prepared to support her with suitable training techniques should she show signs of separation anxiety.
Adopting – Lottie is currently a resident at our kennels near Wells, Somerset and successful applicants will need to come and meet her here.
