Background –
Nala was surrendered to us at 18 months old when her owners could no longer accomodate her needs. She was very nervous and reactive to other dogs. She was placed into a lovely family for the last 6 months who have done an incredible job with her and provided a lot of information for her profile.
Character –
Nala’s family describe her as beautiful, clever and affectionate. She loves to learn, responds fabulously to clicker training and knows instructions such as sit, laydown, jump, spin, paw, stay, wait, drop, heel, easy and even ”wee wee”! She would love agility or hoopers classes! She is incredibly affectionate and wants to be with her family always and they have had to work on building her independance.
Nala is very food motivated, which is excellent for reward based training but does mean she can be a bit of a food thief and can recourse guard.
Nala works wonderfully to heal on a harness and lead, however she does start to pull when she is in a new exciting environment with all the fun smells!
Type of home –
Nala would thrive in an active, adult only family in a chilled home environment.
She would be the perfect adventure buddy and would prefer to be with her humans as much as possible and has suffered from separation anxiety. She made excellent progress in her dedicated foster home and her new family would need to continue with her support with this.
Nala is good around children and lived with children in her foster home but their high energy causes her stress and she expresses boisterous and mouthy play styles that have the potential to escalate if she becomes stressed. This and her potential to resource guard means that she is not suitable for a home with children.
Her foster family started working with a dog trainer to teach ”drop” and trade for a treat and this clever girl would show great improvement with ongoing training.
Nala loves to play ball – it’s her favourite thing! She is not interested in cattle, sheep or horses but in typical Springer style she will definately look twice at a squirrel, bird or rabbit. When she has bonded with her family she recalls well to a whilstle or ‘heel’ command.
Other dogs – Nalas’s fosterers worked hard on her socialisation and she is at a point where she is able to be off-lead in a secure field with them. She occassionally becomes reactive when on lead but responds well to the ‘easy’ command and reward.
Nala could possibly live with other dogs but would need careful and patient introductions. Once she’s bonded she absolutely adores company of other dogs and you can see the reassurance and confidence other dogs give her. She may see improvement in her separation anxiety when paired with a suitable dog, however this result is not guaranteed.

Nala travels very well in her crate in the car.
Health –
Nala is a very healthy and fit girl, she has a fast metabolism (lucky girl!) and has been kept on working dog food in order to keep her at a healthy weight.
Adopting – Nala is currently residing at our kennels near Wells and successful applicants will need to come and meet her here.
