Background

Niya arrived with us due to a change in circumstances in her home. She initially had some health issues that needed urgent treatment, so she has had a bit of a bumpy start. Niya has been in a wonderful, totally dedicated foster placement which has been transformative for her.

Character

Niya is an incredibly sweet dog – everyone who has met her comments on how wonderful she is. Her foster family are blown away by how polite and well behaved she is in the home, she’s a real treasure! Niya is very affectionate and loves to cuddle up with you to watch a movie, but is equally happy to chill on her own if you have things to do.

Type of home

Niya is a great little companion in the home. She is nervous of men so does bark at strangers/workmen/male veterinarians at first, but she is easily swayed by treats and sweet talk and will soon be diving all over male visitors for kisses. Niya travels well in the car and enjoys getting clipped into her seat, staring lovingly at you as you drive off on an adventure so she would enjoy trips out. Niya is reactive towards other dogs and needs to be a solo pooch, and she also isn’t a fan of cats.

Health –

When Niya arrived she had been on steroids for two years. This is far from ideal and so working closely with our vets, we have successfully weaned Niya off steroids and she is now doing well with out any medication but with a proper diet and care. In the future if Niya has any allergy flare ups she may require medication. Niya does not like the vets and will need a patient vet!

Adopting

Niya is currently in foster care in Bristol and successful applicants will need to come and meet her here.
