Background

Olive was found dumped with an eye injury, which resulted in enucleation surgery to remove the eye. Luckily this has not stopped her being a happy, confident and playful girl!

Character

Olive’s foster mum describes her as a total pocket rocket! This happy girl has grabbed her new life by the horns and is ready for any adventure that comes her way.

After she was first found on the side of the road, Olive was taken into care by the local wardens kennels whilst she awaited her surgery and in the early days of her recovery. Our loveable girl became a firm favorite amongst the kennel staff, see the photo of a tearful goodbye the day she moved into our care

Olive is a typical cocker spaniel, with oodles of energy, fun-loving and her nose-down when out on adventures.

She is affectionate and loyal to her humans, and although always friendly, she is not overly interested in meeting strangers, children or other dogs when out and about on walks and is more interested in the job at hand..sniffing!

She adores her foster brother, the other resident spaniel in the home and really thrives in the company of a compatible pooch. They love to play rough and tumble in the garden and curl up together sometimes at night.

She loves her food and treats and tends to gobble them down whole. Her foster mum is helping her learn how to take a treat gently and to eat her meals more slowly with the help of slow feeder bowl.

Type of home

This one-eyed beauty is a high-energy gal who would suit an active family that will keep her stimulated and provide quality exercise. She is very clever and uber trainable, so her foster mum thinks she would be a great candidate for agility or other working-based training. Either way, this young girl is your new adventure buddy!

Olive would love to live with another playful dog so it’s important that her new family includes a pooch pal. She has an enthusiastic play style, so her canine buddy would need to be of a similar size to her.

Olive has a lovely temperament and we think she would be fine in a home with resident children who will respect her independence, be savvy when moving around her blind side and be able to navigate her enthusiasm for food, treats and life!

Olive is fine to be left at home with her canine pal and some enrichment toys for a few hours, although she is still a young dog and will get up to mischief if she becomes bored and is left alone for too long.

She travels well in the car, is potty trained, and sleeps through the night.

Olive has not been tested around cats, she is a playful dog with a strong scent instinct and so it is possible that she may be inclined to chase any resident cats or small furries.

Health

Olive is a bright and healthy girl who had her right eye removed before coming into our care and was attended to by our vets who have monitored her recovery. She has healed very well and should not require any long-term treatment. Potential adopters will be given all relevant information about her surgery.

Adopting – Olive is currently in foster care in Weston Supermare and successful applicants will need to come and meet her here.
