Background –
Woody joined Dogs Friends because changes in circumstances meant his family felt unable to give him the care he needs.
Character –
Woody is a happy chappy, very affectionate, loves to snuggle wherever he can squeeze himself into your personal space and bonds quickly.
He is independent, smart & adventurous but also likes to be with his human as much as possible. Woody loves exploring on his walks, putting that nose to use.
He is using a crate to sleep overnight for safety and to continue his house training which he happily climbs into to snuggle with his Kong at bedtime. He settles quickly picking up routines even in a new environment.
Type of home –
Woody is looking for a home where he will have plenty of company and owners dedicated to his ongoing training and socialisation to make sure he grows up to be a well rounded boy. A secure garden is a must; Dachshunds like to dig, burrow and explore! Woody would love a friendly, playful buddy if there were one in his new home. He loves a game of chase or a bit of rough and tumble, so a buddy who isn’t too big, heavy and boisterous that could injure his long, delicate spine would be best.
Dachshunds can also be quite a vocal breed in both alert barking and the whine of disappointment when they want something. Though Woody has only had the odd bark in play so far it’s important to be aware of breed traits he may develop.
Adopting –
Woody is in foster care in Axbridge, but a secure field is available near Cheddar reservoir for his meet & greet, so potential adopters will need to meet him here.
Our catchment area for rehoming is Somerset and the local surrounding areas (such as Bristol, Bath, Weston Super Mare and Wiltshire).
