MAKING A DONATION

Dogs Friends helps about 200 dogs a year. Many arrive in very bad physical condition; all receive a thorough health check; many have to be neutered;  most have to be vaccinated. All receive the best primary and, if necessary, specialist veterinary care and we always try to go above and beyond. The amount received when a dog is rehomed rarely covers even his or her veterinary costs and on average is less than half the amount spent. And of course there are many other costs as well – it feels endless in some cases. Every donation makes a real difference and every donation is really appreciated.

Single or Regular Donations

Making a single or regular donation to Dogs Friends is a great way to help us continue to find loving homes for unwanted dogs.

If you are a tax payer please sign the GiftAid declarations on the forms as each pound you donate will be worth £1.25 to us. Thank you.

Sponsor a Dog

At Dogs Friends we have several dogs in ‘long-term foster care’.

They are dogs who, because of their age, medical requirements, or behavioural problems, are not suitable for adoption. These dogs still deserve the safety of a home, regular meals, the warmth of a bed, and the love of a human being. These homes are generously provided by some of our foster carers but we remain responsible for all of their vet bills, which is a great drain on our limited resources. Can you help us make sure these dogs have all the care they deserve?

Donating Shares To Charity

Donating shares can be very tax efficient as there Is no capital gain or loss on shares donated to charity and you can claim income tax relief on the value of the shares. In order to qualify for the tax relief, the shares or securities must be:

  • listed or dealt on a recognised UK or foreign stock exchange
  • units in authorised unit trusts
  • shares in a UK open-ended investment company
  • holdings in certain foreign collective investment schemes

For more information on tax relief for gifts of shares to charity and what records you need to keep please see the HMRC guidance notes
