Age: 4 (DOB 10.12.2016)
4-year-old Lucas lived his first few years of life in a sanctuary in Romania before arriving with us at the end of last year. He has only recently been ready to move to a foster home. His foster carer thinks he is now ready to find a forever home.
He has adapted well to living in a home and loves treats and lounging on the sofa. He is house trained and loves the company of others.
He is still nervous of people on first meeting and will sometimes bark at them to ask for them to keep their space from him. This particularly applies to men and teenage boys.
Lucas is super intelligent and likes to think things through before he decides on what to do next.
He is keen for human affection and physical touch, just is not quite ready to trust someone on the first meeting yet. Lucas is affectionate with people once he gets to know them.
Lucas has now had experience on a lead and walks well and greets others politely. He can be bossy with smaller dogs and reacts to cats and so he cannot be rehomed with either. Lucas is the size of a small Collie or Labrador so his friendly canine role model will need to be of similar size or larger.
Due to Lucas’ relatively unknown history, we are not able to home him in a house with children under 16 and smaller dogs or cats.
Lucas’ new family needs to be prepared to do the ongoing work with him to help him gain his confidence and learn how to be a well-rounded pet dog. We are sure Lucas will reward them for their hard work.
If you are considering applying to adopt Lucas, please ensure you have thoroughly read his profile – any applications that do not meet his home specification will not be considered. Applicants must be willing to attend a meet and greet. A home check and vet reference (where applicable) will be conducted.
