About This Project

Luna and Jesse

Breed: Dachshunds

Age: 6 and 9 years

Donation: £300 each

Background – Luna and Jessie are mother and daughter who arrived in our care after being used for breeding. They quickly settled into foster care as part of a multi-dog household and have flourished, so we are now looking for an adoptive family who are genuinely passionate about dog rescue and helping these special souls enjoy life. Luna is the larger of the two girls, but we let Jessie think that she is the biggest.

Character – The girls are both very sweet and people oriented – they can be rather needy for the cuddles so adopters should be prepared to be part of a snuggle bug pile up for much of the day! Luna is a tad more confident and adores time in the garden rolling on the grass (there is a sausage roll pun here somewhere!), playing with toys and going out for walks. Jessie enjoys much of the same things as Luna, but can be a little more shy at first – but it doesn’t take long before she snuggles up on your lap (or just on her favourite spot on top of luna).

Type of home and family– Due to their unsettled start and beautiful temperaments, these girls deserve an absolutely 5-star home. Ideally, we are looking for a very calm home with an experienced family who are happy to spend much of their time in the company of these little sausages! A warm lap and copious amounts of affection is top of Luna and Jessie’s wish list! The opportunity to child-test the girls has not presented itself yet, although their characters indicate that a home with older, sensible children may be suitable pending successful introductions but a very busy family home may be a little overwhelming for the girls.

Outside of the home – The girls are starting to enjoy walks and love going for little adventures – Luna loves a good sniff around the park especially. Nerves can sometimes still get the better of them out and about so a bark at passers by is to be expected, but this may well settle over time with reassurance and training. They both travel well in the car so no doubt in time they can enjoy holidays and days out!

Dogs and Cats – Luna and Jessie enjoy the company of other dogs, but will not be rehomed with cats as they seem to have a desire to chase which also rules out small furries in the garden!

Specific needs and adoption process – Luna and Jessie are both in relatively good health and are due to be spayed and have dentals shortly. A pair of dogs is a large responsibility and so adopters should be fully prepared to make this commitment, and also should read the ‘adopting’ section of our website before applying. Luna and Jessie are in foster care in South Gloucestershire and applicants should be willing to visit them several times in their foster home.
