About This Project

Otis

Breed: French bulldog

Age: 18 months

Donation: £350

  • Otis would prefer not to live with younger children as he cowers away from them
  • Otis would love to live with another dog
  • Otis can live with cats

Background – Otis was handed into rescue as his owners started working very long hours and didn’t have the time to look after him. Otis moved into a very experienced, dog mad foster home where he has made great progress and has recovered well from his surgery for a slipped disk.

Character – Foster Mum Jen says ‘Otis is a very sweet little guy and adores affection and belly rubs’. Otis adores his foster Mum and clearly is able to form great bonds, however he is extremely wary of men, loud deep voices and will cower away when men approach him.

Type of home – Otis needs time and patience – he has so much love to give to someone who is committed to building his confidence and trust back up. Developing a relationship between Otis and any resident male family members will take time patience and a calm space, but in the right home could be very successful. Alternatively, Otis could go to a female only household as he is not worried about the ladies!

Dogs and Cats – Otis likes other dogs and enjoys his trips to the bark park! Another dog in the home may provide nice reassurance for Otis, but this isn’t essential.

Specific needs – Otis can be nervous of loud noises, traffic and is particularly frightened of the sound of the loo flushing! Moving forward, Otis will need to continue to receive reassurance as he learns that the outside world isn’t quite so scary! Foster Mum Jen warns ‘He snores like a freight train!”

Adoption – Otis is in foster care in South Bristol and is ready to go to his adoptive home.
