Breed: Cavachon (Male)
Age: 10 weeks
Background – The pups came to us from a breeder when they couldn’t be sold due to being blind, and fortunately they were accompanied by their fantastic mother Sue who is now safe in foster care with them. The pups spent some time at our kennels until a foster home was found, and are now thriving in a loving family home.
Type of home – They would benefit from a family home with people who have plenty of time for puppy training – they will need more careful socialisation due to their blindness but they are very happy little dogs who don’t let the lack of vision hold them back. They will require a resident guide dog – this will be a pooch pal they can follow and seek guidance and reassurance from. The pups can live with other animals and children aged 3+.
Health – The pups have congenital juvenile cataracts which we hope can be removed when they are 6 months old, which hopefully will restore some vision. They will return to our vets for this and Dogs Friends will cover the costs, but adopters should be willing to assist with fundraising efforts as this is a huge expense for the charity.
Adoption – We are not opening applications for each individual puppy, but will match applicants based on the pups personalities and needs. The pups are in foster care in Yeovil and applicants must be willing to travel here to meet them. They are looking to go to their adoptive homes by 10th August as it is important for them to be settled in their permanent homes at the appropriate age. Please ensure you fully read our ‘adopting’ page before applying.
