Background

Maggie arrived in our care when her family experienced a change in circumstances, but she has always lived in a loving family home.

Character

Maggie is a wonderfully affectionate girl and settled well in her foster home. Initially she was a little nervous of new situations but happily adapts with repeated exposure and encouragement. Maggie is a wonderful girl and just the best snuggler! She loves to curl up next to you on the sofa at night and have happy dreams, and happily sleeps through the night on her foster parents bed.

With other dogs

Maggie is currently living in foster with two resident dogs and many visiting dogs with no issues – she is fine with tiny dogs and her huge Greyhound cousin! She quite likes to cuddle up with one of her canine pals for a nap. She enjoys to have a sniff with other dogs whilst out on walks and loves chase games in a secure field.

Type of home

Maggie would suit most home set ups providing they are genuinely active and are happy to continue her training. Maggie needs a fair bit of exercise and enrichment so her new home must like walking and adventures (although Maggie requires significant encouragement to go out if it is raining!). We think Maggie would be happy living with or without other dogs, and she has previously lived with young children too.

Unfortunately Maggie does not like cyclists and has lunged on lead when they are passing. This is slowly improving with positive training but there is still a way to go! Maggie is a young dog and her forever family must be prepared to continue her training. She currently walks well on lead and will sit and wave her paw for a treat. She does like to have a bark in the garden especially if she sees pigeons! In her foster home this behaviour is discouraged and redirected in a play game.

Adopting

Maggie is ready to move to her new home now and applicants must be willing to visit her in South Gloucestershire.
