Background

Oreo came to Dogs Friends when the older dog in his home did not accept a playful young puppy.

Character

Oreo is affectionate, cuddly and playful, once he trusts you. He is very gentle, when accepting treats, and he loves a game of fetch. He is still a little nervous around new people. But has shown a lot of improvement in a week.

Oreo was very anxious when he first arrived in foster care, he would bark and cry as soon as his foster carer was out of sight. He has learnt to settle with the help of the resident dog, and now sleeps downstairs in the kitchen on his own, like a big brave boy.! A baby gate is used, as he became very anxious with the door closed. It still takes him a few minutes to settle so his new family will need to be patient.

Oreo loves his walks, long or short, and gets very excitable when the harness and lead comes out, so we are sometimes having a wrestling match to get the harness on him.

Type of home

Oreo would be best suited to a young, active family or person and his new people must be calm and patient.

Oreo is friendly towards all dogs he has met out on walks. He will cry and squeak to say hello! He has learnt his foster sister doesn’t want to play with him, and he’s ok with that. We think another dog in the home could really help Oreo given his more nervous disposition.

Adopting

Oreo is in foster care in North Bristol and applicants would need to meet him here.
