Background

Piper and Sookie arrived with us with minimal history, but it is believed that they are a mother and daughter duo that have lived in a home environment.

Character

Sookie and Piper greatest joy is cuddling on the sofa, playing with toys and causing mischief.

Sookie is incredibly affectionate and just wants a kind, calm person to love her. She clearly feels a lot of emotion and seeks to please. Her eagerness to please makes her very receptive to training. She’s hoping to find someone that’s willing to work on her training and socialisation with her individually.

Piper would happily spend all day under a blanket; she’s independent and knows what she likes. She loves food and food based games, she’s cheeky and stubborn when she wants to be. Piper needs to build her confidence in the outside world and is hoping someone will take the time to do this with her.

Both girls are fiercely local and are perfect alert dogs. They’re a wonderful pair who are hoping for someone to see them as individuals and take the time with each of them to help them grown into confident and well rounded seniors.

Type of home

Sookie and Piper are not social and require a patient home. They wouldn’t cope with lots of coming and going, e.g. frequent new visitors or carers, in the home.

Their new home should be happy with dogs that avoid busy public outings. They cannot live with other pets, and their walks must be in quiet areas or secure fields, kept away from other dogs in the first instance. They don’t require daily walking as they are quite happy to potter in a garden or do some training on their down days.

Sookie and Piper haven’t lived with children whilst in our care. We think they would prefer an adult-only home, but may be able to live with sensible older children, subject to successful introductions.

Both girls can be left and manage best when left together, rather than apart.

Please note: Sookie is a very springy girl and will require high fencing (approx. 6ft) in her new home.

Health

Sookie and Piper have sensitive tummies, which are well managed with their diet being kept to limited proteins. They are otherwise in good health.

Adopting

The girls are in foster care in Weston-super-Mare and applicants would need to come and meet them here.

Our catchment area for rehoming is Somerset and the local surrounding areas (such as Bristol, Bath, Weston Super Mare and Wiltshire).
