Background

Beautiful Rosie came to us after being found as a stray and serving her 7 days in the wardens kennels. She was adopted soon afterwards but unfortunately, although she made a wonderful addition to the home, she was not able to live with the resident small dog and has found herself back in our care.

Character

Rosie is a sweet and affectionate girl who loves nothing more than being with her people and getting cuddles. She desperately seeks affection when you walk past her kennel at our facility and she’s been great with everyone she’s met.
Rosie can sometimes stand on her hind legs when seeking affection, so anyone in the home should be prepared for this and continue promoting a rewards for all ‘4 paws on the ground’ policy.

Rosie has been fine with the dogs that she’s met in our care but appears to be unsure about how to socialise with them. She becomes nervous when approached by very confident and energetic dogs and could benefit from further socialisation.
In the home, Rosie’s sighthound instinct kicks in and ,although she has not harmed smaller dogs whilst in our care, she is very stimulated by them and this has the potential to escalate.

Rosie was initially a little nervous near busy roads but regular walking has helped build her confidence and she walks well on the lead.

She loves to play with a tennis ball and zoomies around our secure field and is loved and adored by all of our kennel staff and volunteers.

Type of home

Rosie’s most recent home said she ”just loves to love”. This girl is ready to be your new best friend!
She is still young and has responded really well to basic training in her previous home, she has the potential to become a wonderful family member. She is food motivated when on walks in at the kennels and this makes her very trainable.

Rosie is most chilled out in the a home, she is overstimulated by the busy environment at the kennels so would love to be curled up in a quiet home with not too many postmen and deliveries!

For this reason and because of her size, any children in the household would need to be older.

On walks Rosie walks really well on the lead however, she exhibits typical sighthound instincts and will excitedly lunge towards cats, small furries and small dogs, therefore her humans will need to be physically strong and able. She is very well behaved when walked on her collar. well-behaved

She could possibly live with another calm and confident dog but any resident dogs MUST be of a similar size.

Rosie travels well and has been said to love a pamper session when she receives a bath!

Adopting

Rosie is a resident at our kennels near Wells and successful applicants will need to come and meet her here.
