Background

Sally came to us as a ”retired” breeding dog having never lived in a home or been a household pet before, she went straight into a lovely foster home. Sally was then adopted but unfortunately returned to our care.

Character

Sally is understandably a very worried dog who needs lots of support. Although she initially presents as very confident, maybe even bossy, she is very anxious and needs a lot of reassurance to help her feel safe! Even though she has never lived in a home before she has proven to be very intelligent and willing to learn. Sally is still learning how to play, but shows how happy she can get when she gets zoomies running around the garden!

She will absolutely thrive living in a home as a beloved family member in a kind and patient home!

Type of home

Sally would love to live in a home where she has consistent company most of the time, having been emotionally neglected in the past, she now shows signs of separation anxiety and can become destructive if left alone to become stressed. She is a very clever girl and we think this behaviour would improve in a supportive home that is willing to support her training.

Sally lacks some basic training having not lived inside a home before, but has adapted to foster home life at warp speed. Her new family will need to gently support her whilst she learns the ropes of living in a family home. Sally really needs a quiet, calm home with people who can go at her pace with consistency and routine.

Sally loves her walks and walks very well on the lead, although if she becomes nervous or gets a fright she can pull away, so she will need a secure harness and an alert handler whilst she learns that the world is not just a scary place.

Sally does generally get on well with other dogs, but can be bossy which resulted in a minor incident in her previous home. Sally could live with other dogs in a sensible home with someone who will integrate her slowly and manage any conflicts that arise.

Adopting

Sally is a resident at our kennels near Wells and successful applicants will need to come and meet her here.
