Stumpy

About This Project

Stumpy

Breed: Shih Tzu x Bichon x Cavachon

Age: 5 years old

Stumpy arrived with his foster carer in December 2018 aged just 7 weeks old. He had no back paws, just little stumps, and his fate was unknown. It was originally thought he may have to be PTS for his welfare if his stumps deteriorated. However, Stumpy is loving life with his pack of dog friends and a big bag of booties!

We weren’t sure if his stumps would cause him issues, but, bar a few minor scrapes they hold up well and he makes sure to look after them. He has even developed a unique way of walking over hard surfaces that we call ‘the wheelbarrow’ where he just walks on his front paws, bum in the air, once on grass or other soft surface he pops his stumps back down and can be quite speedy when the mood takes him!

Stumpy is now the big brother of his pack and chief of the neighbourhood watch committee. He loves to be wet and muddy and despite his disability, he’s very playful and loves to run around with his pals.

He’s been a great foster brother to almost 30 other fosters he’s lived with since he’s been here, from Rottweilers to Yorkies, he’s great with them all. He loves a bit of rough and tumble and inducts all the newbies into his fight club when they are ready to play.
