Background – Quaver is a young boy who was picked up as a stray and sadly never claimed. Quaver has spent a fair bit of time in foster care, but has been a resident at our kennels for many months.
Character – Quaver is exactly what you’d expect if you mixed two high energy and high enthusiasm breeds – endless energy, constantly on the go and a truck load of mischief. He has been very receptive to consistent training and loves to learn, but needs to work on his ability to chill during down time.
With children and other animals – Quaver has previously lived with children in foster care, but can be very ‘full on’ and likes to play bite so wouldn’t be well suited to a home with children. Quaver enjoys time with other dogs and happily goes for walks with his pooch pals, but can be very boisterous and so could only live with another dog if they were very tolerant and in an experienced home.
Type of home – Quaver is a very special dog and he would not be well suited to most conventional homes – we’d rather be honest about this now as we don’t want him to have a failed adoption under his belt. This rascal doesn’t really see the point in coming indoors when he’d much rather be outside, so he will need a secure garden or land, ideally with someone who is home enough that he can have plenty of outdoor time. He’s eager to learn but he needs a lot of guidance, particularly around teaching calm behaviour and settling, as his zest for life frequently gets the better of him! The devil makes work for idle working breeds and his beagle side means he is very cheeky! He is certain to cause puppy like mischief and mayhem if he’s not being adequately tired out and otherwise occupied, so an active household with working breed experience is a must.
Adoption – Quaver is a resident at our kennels and applicants will need to come and meet him here.
